Luis F. Lopez is a guest contributor to Breaking News ABA and the President of Mergium Advisors, where, for 16 years, he has assisted clients with mergers and acquisitions, sales of companies, capital raising, business valuations, joint ventures, and pre-M&A analysis and planning.
Luis has spent 29 years fully dedicated to corporate finance, working in the US and emerging markets and serving private and family-owned, middle-market, and Fortune 500 companies in both domestic and cross-border transactions. He spent most of his career at KPMG Corporate Finance, where his last position was Partner/Director, and has also served as Managing Director – Investment Banking at INTL FCStone (today StoneX) and as CFO for Latin America at The Western Union Co.
He has led M&A, capital raising, and project finance engagements across a broad range of industries, including healthcare services, education, business services, technology, and manufacturing. He is also an expert in business valuations, having performed more than 200 in recent years.
Luis holds a Ph.D. and a master's degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad del Valle. A Fulbright scholar and former adjunct professor at the University of Miami, he is a licensed registered representative at StillPoint Capital LLC, a broker-dealer member of FINRA/SIPC.
