The Speech Pathology Applied Behavior Analysis Special Interest Group (SPABA), an ABAI special interest group, will hold its 3rd Annual Conference online on November 6, 2026. The one-day virtual event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern on BehaviorLive and is aimed at speech-language pathologists, behavior analysts and clinicians who hold both credentials.
Sessions center on collaboration between SLPs and ABA practitioners: neurodiversity debates and what they mean for interprofessional work, unproven communication practices for autistic children, ethical collaboration, naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions, and a behaviorally informed communication intervention for aphasia. The day also includes SPABA’s Research-Application-Dissemination Awards presentation. Presenters include Heather Forbes, Mareile Koenig, Joanne Gerenser and Matt Brodhead, among others. Registration is $149 and covers up to 7 BACB CEUs, 2 in ethics and 5 general, which can be earned live or on demand; 0.65 ASHA CEUs are available for live attendance only.
SPABA was formed in 2005 and is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working where speech-language pathology and applied behavior analysis overlap, with a focus on evidence-based, interprofessional practice. Because many autistic clients receive both speech and ABA services, the conference addresses coordination questions that matter to providers delivering both.
